Configuring Notification Server to use HTTPS

ITMS Installation and Upgrade

Before you perform this step, ensure that you have verified the HTTPS binding by making a request to the website.

See Verifying the HTTPS binding

After you have verified the HTTPS binding, you must configure the Notification Server computer to use the newly-created HTTPS binding.

To configure Notification Server to use HTTPS

  1. Log on to the Notification Server computer as an administrator.

  2. On the Start menu, click Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

  3. Edit the Altiris Web site properties.

Follow the procedure that corresponds to the operating system of the Notification Server computer:

    Windows 2003

    1. In the Altiris Properties window, in the Directory Security tab, under Secure Communications, click Edit.

    2. In the Secure Communications window, check Require Secure Channel (SSL) and then click OK.

    Windows 2008

    1. In the central pane, under IIS, click SSL Settings.

    2. Select Require SSL.

    3. In the Actions pane, click Apply.

  4. If Notification Server does not start publishing HTTPS codebases, do the following:

    • Restart IIS on Notification Server.

    • Restart the Altiris Service on Notification Server.

    • On Notification Server run the Package Refresh schedule under Windows Scheduled Tasks.

The next step is to apply a root certificate authority certificate to a managed computer.
